The medieval Glasgow Cathedral has been in constant use for worship for over 800 years, and is of great architectural and historic interest. Highlights include one of the finest post-war collections of stained glass windows in Britain, and the ceiling in the Blackadder Aisle which was built around 1500 by Archbishop Blackadder. Cared for by Historic Scotland and open to visitors throughout the year from 9.30am except Sundays when it is open at 1pm. Closing times vary.

The Necropolis, Glasgow’s Victorian City of the Dead, is a vast and grand cemetery modelled on Père-Lachaise in Paris. Described as one of the most significant cemeteries in Europe, it is a major visitor attraction and patrolled by Park Rangers. Heritage Trail maps are available to guide the visitor to the memorials and tombs of some of Glasgow’s most eminent citizens

Highlights include one of the most significant holdings of Chinese art in the UK, medieval treasures including stained glass, arms and armour and over 200 tapestries which rank amongst the finest in the world, and paintings by renowned French artists including Manet, Cezanne and Degas.
This magnificent collection in its purpose-built home surrounded by beautiful parkland, is ranked amongst the most significant civic museum collections in the UK, comparable to the National Gallery and the V&A in London. On the way out you may well spot Highland cattle grazing in the beautiful setting of Pollok Park or otters in the small river that runs through the estate.
