Stop At: Burford Visitor Information Centre, 33 High Street, Burford OX18 4QA England

Combining the beauty of Shakespeare’s Stratford-upon-Avon with a drive through some of the most breathtaking scenery of the North Cotswolds, our tour heads west from Oxford. We start with a visit to Burford, the ‘gateway to the Cotswolds’ with its sloping main street and quirky shops and cafes.

Stop At: Bourton-on-the-Water, Bourton-on-the-Water, Cotswolds, England

After a refreshment break, we leave Burford and drive through some of the old quarrying villages of the North Cotswolds to Bourton-on-the-Water. Bourton-on-the-Water is often called the ‘Venice of the Cotswolds’. Time to enjoy wandering along the river with its old stone bridges or have a refreshment in one of the many cafes.

Stop At: High Street Chipping Campden, Chipping Campden GL55 6AT England

From Bourton-on-the-Water we head further into the North Cotswolds and make our next stop in the beautiful old wool town of Chipping Campden (one of the homes of the Arts and Crafts Movement in the Cotswolds) with its golden stone buildings. We break for lunch here and time to see the church and old market hall.

Stop At: Shakespeare’s Birthplace, Henley Street, Stratford-upon-Avon CV37 6QW England

We drive through some spectacular scenery to arrive in Stratford-upon-Avon. Our short panoramic tour of Shakespeare’s home town will take you past charming timber-framed houses and some of the houses associated with William Shakespeare. Time to visit Shakespeare’s Birthplace (optional) and see the Shakespeare theatres on the banks of the picturesque River Avon.

Stop At: Anne Hathaway’s Cottage & Gardens, Shottery, Stratford-upon-Avon CV37 9HH England

Leaving Stratford, we head to Shottery where you can do an optional visit of Anne Hathaway’s cottage with it’s beautiful gardens and romantic “half-moon” seat.

Stop At: Great Tew Car Park, 60 The Ln, Great Tew, Chipping Norton OX7 4DJ, UK

We leave Anne Hathaway’s Cottage and head back to Oxford through the market town of Shipston-on-Stour and more breathtaking landscape to arrive in the charming village of Great Tew, with its 17th century estate and quaint pub. Enjoy walking around this peaceful village and seeing the idyllic thatched cottages.

Pass By: Blenheim Palace, Woodstock OX20 1PP England

Leaving Great Tew we make our way back to Oxford via the lovely town of Woodstock, the site of Blenheim Palace, home of the Dukes of Marlborough and birthplace of Sir Winston Churchill.
