Nottingham sits upon what is known as the City of Caves with there being almost 1,000 known caves beneath the city. In our tour we will descend underground, seeing the highlights, some of which were used in WW2 as public air-raid shelters

Visit the old Lace Market & uncover the secrets of this famous part of Nottinghams’ heritage. We will also learn about some of the less palatable parts of the history of Nottingham, where many of the executions took place. 

We end at possibly the oldest pub in Britain. Frequented by crusaders heading south and partially built into the rock beneath Nottingham Castle.

Learn the story behind the canals and see how they have been transformed in the modern day. Stand on the spot of a massive explosion that shook half of the city!

Explore the hidden city of caves beneath the modern streets of Nottingham. New caves are being discovered every year and people have lived and worked in them for countless centuries.

Nottingham is famous for many things but historically it was always renowned for its lace. We will explore the old streets and lanes and learn the history of the old city itself.

This vibrant quarter of Nottingham is sometimes compared with Soho in London and it’s not hard to see why when we walk through the streets with fashionable restaurants, pubs and shops.

Dominated by its magnificent old town hall, the Old Market Square is about 13,000 sq feet, one of the largest city squares anywhere. Host to lots of local events and with shopping streets fanning out in all directions and trams nipping by.

Home to several icons of Nottingham and also to some incredible history that even many locals just walk right over without noticing.

Many locals don’t even know this is here. The only surviving and visible ruins of the old medieval walls that once stretched more than a mile around the city.

This Roman Catholic Cathedral has some wonderful interiors and close connections with the Houses of Parliament in Westminster.

Explore this secretive and incredible Victorian tunnel from the City Centre to the gorgeous Park Estate. Please note the tunnel is flat but we only visit here if you are happy with walking up the steps back to the rest of the route! If not, no problem we carry on as usual.

Stand on the spot where the English Civil war effectively started when King Charles I planted his Royal Standard above Nottingham Castle.

Right by the walls of Nottingham Castle is the iconic statue of Robin Hood.

Explore what has always been one of the 4 most important Royal Castles in England.

An old Crusader pub, hence the name. One of the very oldest pubs anywhere and partially built into the rock under Nottingham Castle. A great place to have a drink at the end of the tour or if you prefer, stay on for a meal.
