What makes St. Paul’s Cathedral & City of London Private Tour for Kids and Families a unique experience ?
Meet your guide just outside St. Paul’s Cathedral and begin your exploration of one of the most famous and recognizable sights in London. Its dome is among the highest in the world and, framed by the spires of Wren’s City churches, has dominated the London skyline for over 300 years.
As you walk in you will be fascinated by the incredible baroque interior and by the vibrant, monumental mosaics that are a much loved and admired aspect of the decoration of St Paul’s Cathedral.
Your guide will entertain children and adults alike with fascinating stories about myths and legends associated with the cathedral, making it a truly memorable experience.
The church has been the venue for a number of important historical events, such as the funeral of Admiral Nelson in 1806 and that of Winston Churchill in 1965. Prince Charles and Lady Diana Spencer married there in 1981.
After visiting St. Paul’s Cathedral, you will proceed with a short sightseeing walking tour of the surrounding area where you will see some famous attractions from the outside.
You will see the remains of London’s Roman Wall, built between 190 and 220 AD. It once stretched for about three miles from Blackfriars to Tower Hill, and this defensive wall protected what was then the important Roman city of Londinium.
Then you will walk across Millennium bridge, a steel suspension bridge for pedestrians only, linking Bankside with the City of London. The locals also call it “Wobbly Bridge” after pedestrians initially experienced an unnerving swaying motion, but don’t worry, alterations were able to successfully eliminate the problem.
Millennium bridge was the first bridge built across the Thames River since the building of the magnificent Tower Bridge over a hundred years previously .
