It was one of the fastest of its type and gave its name to Cutty Sark Whisky. The maximum logged speed for Cutty Sark was 17.5 knots (20.1 mph). Her greatest recorded distance in noon to noon sights was 363 nautical miles.
She has one of the slimmest hulls which is why she was so fast.
