The London City of Westminster tour visits the political centre of London. Starting by Nelson’s Column, the geographical centre of the city, we will then stroll along Whitehall to see where the official residence of the Prime Minister and the cabinet office.

It’s hard to imagine today, but before the Romans arrived in Britain there was no London! The City of London is built on top of original Roman streets, and the archaeology of Londinium can still be seen if you look carefully around the concrete.

In this tour I will take you around the old Roman city, from the original fort wall in the West by St Paul’s and the Barbican, down to the amphitheater where early Londoners watched gladiatorial fights, to the Temple of Mithras and the original London Bridge, finishing at the beating heart of Londinium – its huge Roman forum, still a marketplace today. I would love to show you how the city grew up under Roman rule, how people lived their lives, and tell the stories of Roman conquest and rule through to the eventual collapse of Roman Britain.

If your stay in London is shorter than you’d like it to be, but you want to leave with the feeling that you have seen the most important sites of this magnificent old town, then our Free London in a Day Tour is definitely the tour for you.

We’ll get going in the morning from Tower Hill Station, and we’ll spend all morning exploring the City of Westminster, the place where political power has been held for the last 700 years, and certainly the most eccentric and picturesque area in town. Walk through the oldest streets of London as you gaze up to some of its most modern buildings. Be amazed by St. Paul’s Cathedral, and hear about the man who built it and rebuilt all of London after the Great Fire of 1666. Learn about some of the most powerful corporations in history, such as The East India Company, in the place where capitalism was born.
