What makes London East End & Street Art Walking Tour Semi-Private 12ppl Max a unique experience ?
From the origins of Cockney rhyming slang to the hipsters of Shoreditch via the curry houses of Brick Lane, this neighborhood is a proud representation of the vast melting-pot that is London. Notorious as the hunting ground of 19th century serial killer Jack the Ripper, it’s now home to London’s best street art including Shepard Fairey and Banksy. The East End is alive with contradictions and colorful characters, and we’ll introduce you to our favorites, like the many vendors at Spitalfields Market. We’ll explore the streets and neighborhoods that will leave you wanting to stick around and mingle with the hipsters all afternoon.
After meeting your guide by Liverpool Street Station, you will make your way to Petticoat Lane Market, a world-famous market established over 400 years ago by the French Huguenots who sold petticoats and lace from the stalls. It is known today for selling mainly clothes for men, women and children.
You will then visit Artillery Passage, where you will be offered a glimpse into 17th Century London. Despite the modern urban changes made, the conservation area will offer you a view into narrow lanes, passages and courtyards, where you will get a rare snapshot of the historic inner city.
Next you will explore Old Spitalfields Market, one of the finest surviving Victorian Market halls in London. Built in the 1800s, the market was refurbished in the early 2000s and is now one of the city’s most unique shopping, eating and drinking destinations with an array of boutique fashion, design and lifestyle stores and distinctive restaurants.
Afterwards you will walk through Whitechapel, the location of the infamous Whitechapel Murders of Jack the Ripper in the late 1880s.
You will then visit Brick Lane, a popular location in East London. Running from Bethnal Green through Spitalfields all the way to Whitechapel, the street is known for its breweries and markets whilst also the home to a striving artistic community. Walking along, you will be able to enjoy all the impressive street art around you.
You will also walk along Shoreditch High Street, the old main street of Shoreditch. The street provides a perfect base for visitors looking to check out trendy bars and authentic restaurants and always has vibrant atmosphere.
