Insider information as this is a tour by someone who lived and worked in Soho for a long time in the 60’s/70’s and had personal experiences with some of the gangsters i.e. worked in clubs for them, worked in clubs where they socialized, lived in a property owned by a gangster club owner.

Then after your tour you can enjoy Fish & Chips or other price equivalent dishes at Poppies 55-59 Old Compton St, London W1D 6HW. which was the famous 2’I’s Coffee Bar that we stopped at on the tour and where many British Rock & Roll groups were discovered including Cliff Richards & The Shadows, Tommy Steele and many moe!

We stop outside what used to be great Marlborough St Magistrates Court where many famous people were tried back in 60’s/70’s

We stop at the beginning to talk about gangsters from 1888 coming forward to the 1950’s

Crossing the street we talk about Don Arden a true 2Gangster of Pop Music, a ruthless music mogle!

We stop opposite the Soho Mural which shows many of the famous people who made Soho their home over the years

We stop here to talk about John Snow the first epidemiologist who discovered how cholera was transmitted

We stop opposite the site of Paul Raymonds Revue Bar to talk about how striptease became common place in Soho

We stop opposite wher the Flamingo Club once stood. Home of stars such as Sarah Vaughn in the 50’s and a very popular R & B club in the 60’s/70’s visited by stars and criminals

Here is wher the Krays had their only club in Soho, we tell the story of how they obtained it!

Outside no 43 we tell the story of Kate Meryck the “Nightclub Queen” of the 1920’s and how she was jailed many time for no liquor licence

We stop to discuss the Krays relationship with Lord Boothby a member of the House of Lords

Now a great fish & chip shop where you can enjoy your meal but in the 60’s it was the 2I’s Coffe bar the home of British Rock & Roll where many famous groups performed before they bercame famous

Crossing the road we will stop on the corner of Greek St to talk about Reggie Kray’s marriage to Frances Cole and its tragic outcome and Ronnie Knight, Freddie Forman and the Richardsons

Outside no 58 We will discuss police corrurption in the 60’s/70’s, Jimmy Humphries owner of many of the sex shops and how theydid or did not pay off the police and the consequences

We have booked you a table, which will be kept for 15 minutes so please arrive by 6.15.

If you want your food fried in vegetable oil, they have a separate small fryer available but you need to tell us that you would like this at least 48 hours in advance and give us your exact food order.

For all other non-vegetable oil fried orders, you do not need to tell us your food order in advance, you choose your food from the menu when you are seated.

Please also ask your server for any information regarding food allergens before placing your order.

If you wish to order a more expensive fish option from the menu you will need to please pay the restaurant the difference between the Regular Cod & Chips and the meal that you have ordered.

To get to Poppies from the end of the tour retrace your steps to the corner of Greek St/ Old Compton St turn right cross the next two streets and you will see Poppies on the other side, on the third block.
