Winner of first prize for Best Free Activities and Best for Learning categories at the 2018 Hoop Awards, the museum boasts around 70 million exhibits across its five main collections: botany, entomology, mineralogy, paleontology and zoology.
One of the most popular sections of museum, especially with kids, is the Dinosaur Gallery, and the jewel in its crown, a Tyrannosaurus Rex which is between 122 and 129 million years old, is one of the most important dinosaur skeletons ever discovered. Other items not to be missed (and which your guide will make sure you don’t miss) include the Marine Reptile Fossils, the Jurassic sea crocodiles, a breathtaking 25.2-metre-long blue whale skeleton, a giant sequoia tree and a fantastic range of stuffed birds.
