The abbey was built in the Gothic manner and in the form of a St. John’s Cross. The abbey is known for its many carved decorative details, including likenesses of saints, dragons, gargoyles and plants. On one of the abbey’s stairways is an inscription by John Morow, a master mason.

Scott’s View is a viewpoint in the Scottish Borders, overlooking the valley of the River Tweed, which is reputed to be one of the favourite views of Sir Walter Scott.

Abbotsford is a historic country house in the Scottish Borders, near Galashiels, on the south bank of the River Tweed. Now open to the public, it was built as the residence of historical novelist and poet Sir Walter Scott between 1817 and 1825.

Through the trees stand the beautiful remains of Dryburgh Abbey, idyllically situated in a loop of the River Tweed. The abbey was originally home to a peaceful religious community, but attacks from English armies left it in severe decline by the 1550s.
