Itinerary

Stop At: Isle of Portland, Isle of Portland, Dorset, England

Join us as we take a tranquil walk exploring the disused coastal railway track on the East Side of Portland.

The walk has gained national appeal for its stunning Jurassic Coast views and flat cliff-side trail.

Walking with a guide learn about the Jurassic Coast, Portland’s rich history in quarrying and its famous stone used for St Pauls Cathedral & Buckingham Palace!

The old line operated from the late nineteenth century until closing to passengers in the 1952 and goods in 1965. Its construction needed twelve years of blasting through solid rock and three extensions of Parliamentary time.

Today, parts of the line can still be walked and is considered one of the most scenic lines in the south west of England; it is now part of Dorset’s World Heritage Jurassic Coast.

We end with an ice cream and a “cuppa” at the top of Portland looking over the spectacular Chesil Beach and the Olympic Rings.
