East Cottingwith Trip Overview
Spend a day in the pretty rural outskirts of York with a small group of like-minded people, learning to weave a pretty, round willow basket.
Di has been teaching basket weaving for 15 years and works you hard! We are one of the few courses in the country where you can make a fancy border in a one day course.
As she is also a foraging teacher Di will tell you about medicinal aspects of willow too, just don’t try to eat your basket!

Itinerary
During the day you will learn all about willow, how to harvest and even grow it, how to select and prepare it for weaving, then after making the base using a paring weave and inserting the uprights you will break for lunch (please bring a packed lunch). Refreshments are provided.
After lunch you will weave the walls using a different weave called three rod wale, then each student gets 1:1 tuition to complete their border, which takes about ten mins. You will do a fancy border that really finishes the basket off!
Please contact us the week before to ask which workshop we are in (they are three miles apart).
