The Gap of Dunloe cyclist and bike tour is an ideal way for the active traveller to Killarney to see our National Park in it’s entirety.
Cyclists will meet the boats at Ross Castle at 10.30am, load up their bikes and get going on their tour through Killarney National Park’s 3 lakes and 2 rivers.
The tour takes roughly 1.5hrs depending on water levels and weather conditions. Upon arrival at Lord Brandon’s Cottage, Cyclists may have tea/coffee in the cafe before starting the 11km cycle through the Gap of Dunloe.
At the end of the Gap, cyclists may stop for lunch and refreshments at the famous Kate Kearney’s Cottage Bar & Restaurant. Killarney town is a further 14km.
Cyclists should be aware that the Gap of Dunloe road includes steep uphill and downhill sections as well as tight corners. Participants in this tour should be proficient in cycling as the road is open to motor traffic. After Kate Kearney’s Cottage, cyclists will be travelling on a minor road with other traffic.

Pass By: Ross Castle Ross Road, Killarney Ireland
Ross Castle is the starting point for our tour. Guests will find our boats at the main stone pier at the front of the castle. Guests may arrive early to cycle along the mining trail of Ross Island and enjoy the peace and quiet of the forest before meeting the boats at 10.30am. Tea and coffee is available from the small shop adjacent to the castle and may be taken on the boat!
Stop At: Killarney National Park Cork Road, Killarney Ireland
The boat tour brings guests through the 3 lakes and 2 rivers of The Killarney National Park. The tour generally takes 1.5hrs depending on weather conditions and water levels. Our local guides will give a running commentary on all of the local myths, legends and history of the area.

After a 1.5hr trip in the boat, guests will arrive at the cafe in Lord Brandon’s Cottage. This beautiful area is worth exploring before starting the 11km cycle through the Gap of Dunloe to Kate Kearney’s Cottage!

At the end of your cycle through the Gap of Dunloe is the famous Kate Kearney’s Cottage Bar & Restaurant. After 11km of a cycle, here guests can enjoy lunch and a bit of a rest! The cycle to Killarney town is a further 14km from here and guests can take advantage of some of the bike and walking trails through the National Park as they get closer to Killarney.
