What to Expect When Visiting County Dublin, County Dublin, Ireland
I have been providing tours of Dublin for over 7 years and I pride myself on giving groups a unique experience and showing people the weirder side of Dublin’s history.
Itinerary
This tour will bring you on a history of the city, beginning at Dublin Castle, bringing you through the medieval city, to the Irish revolution and right into the modern day.
Beginning at Dublin Castle we will see why Dublin was an ideal place for the Vikings to settle and why this site was instrumental to colonial rule. In Dubh Linn Gardens you will get a crash course in the Irish Language.
Moving into the Medieval Quarter of the city, we will look at Christchurch Cathedral, its history from the Vikings to the Normans and why the Church is responsible for the area around it being called Hell in the 1700’s.
As we move into Temple Bar, we will stop into a traditional pub where a pint or Irish Coffee will be provided.
On the second half of the tour we will look at some of Dublin’s weirder characters such as ‘Bang Bang’ and ‘The Man on the Bridge’ before moving into Dublin’s revolutionary history in the wake of Famine in Ireland.
Outside the GPO on O’Connell St, you will here about how a failed rebellion sparked a revolution and led to independence in 1922.
Finally, we will finish with one of the strangest stories of Dublin on O’Connell Bridge.
I’ll keep this one secret for now.
