Itinerary
This is a typical itinerary for this product

Stop At: Knockbrack, Cleggan Pier, Co. Galway, Ireland

The guided deep sea angling trip starts in Cleggan (transportation to Cleggan is not included in package). Depending on the tide, you will meet your skipper at 10.30am either at the pier or at the boat club. The skipper will go through the itinerary for the day and you will get the gear and equipment to have a fantastic fishing day.

Then you will depart for a full-day deep sea angling and you will spend the day on the boat in the Atlantic Ocean. You might see basking sharks, common and bottle-nose dolphins, grey seals, orca whales, great skua, puffins, gullemots and razor bills. Some of the islands have ruins on them and witness stunning island cliffs and scenery.

The two main fishing techniques are drifting and anchoring. Drifting over reefs in 15-100 meters of water will yield Ling, Cod, Coalfish, Wrasse and Mackerel, to name but a few. Using Red Gill’s and lead heads for Pollack is a specialty and provides excellent sport with fish averaging 2.5 kg (5lbs+) and frequently edge over 5.5 kg (10lbs+). Summer cod are plentiful and fish in the 10 to 15 lbs range are common. Shoals of Coalfish vary in size from clouds of 1 lb fish to big adults over 10 lbs. A day’s drifting over reefs should yield 10 to 15 species and some additional bait could well increase this up to 15 or 20 species.

After an exciting seafaring day you will arrive back in Cleggan at approximately 6pm.
